parkrun in New Zealand and Tauawhitia Trust have united to help create healthier communities
The Tauawhitia Trust is delighted to become parkrun's charitable trust partner in New Zealand.
The values and aspirations of parkrun align closely to those of the trust, and we are pleased to be able to help keep parkrun free, for everyone, forever and to support their ambition to reach 100 parkruns and beyond across the country.
The collaboration will enable parkrun to apply for grants and receive funding from a variety of sources in New Zealand under the auspices of the Trust, alongside community donations that will have an important impact.
parkrun in New Zealand has created a solid foundation to build upon, with over 50 events actively taking place across the country each Saturday morning and more than 126,000 people having taken part, including 15,000 as volunteers.
parkrun’s commitment is to significantly expand that footprint around the country, by bringing their events to more communities and creating opportunities for more people to benefit from being active, social and outdoors.
You can donate to parkrun through parkrun.co.nz or via the links on the Donate Now page on this site. 100% of all donations received for parkrun will be used for parkrun in New Zealand. All contributions are warmly welcomed, and we encourage discussion if you have ideas or questions.
Details on specific campaigns and achievements will be posted on the News page.
Testimonials from parkrun participants
Michelle Carter
“For me, parkrun is an event we can do as a whole family. My husband is a runner, my children and myself aren’t, but we can do this with him.
Anan Pavan
“When I first attended parkrun in September 2015, I knew very little about the event and was a little hesitant about the ‘run’ in parkrun. However, as you would expect, I was met by a group of friendly, enthusiastic and supportive parkrunners of different ages and capabilities. It was a fantastic experience, and an easy decision to come back each Saturday morning.”
Aimee Withington
“I appreciate how welcoming everyone is, whether it’s your first time or you’ve done many parkruns. There’s always someone at the end cheering you on.”
Graham Rose, David Moss and Pat O’Connor
“For anyone who is a bit older and is thinking of coming along to parkrun, you’re never too old to start. You can take it easy with a walk, and there are lots of other people to walk and talk with. Or of course you can volunteer, which is a great way to be involved in parkrun and to meet other people.”
Rebecca Ford
Of course, however you support parkrun already – through running, walking or volunteering – you play a vital role in our community. And we know not everyone can give a gift of money.
